Respite Care: Seniors with Alzheimer’s

Respite Care Charleston provides social day programs to those living with Alzheimer's and dementia, offering caregivers a much needed break while giving their loved ones the opportunity for engaging social interaction.

Volunteers are needed Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 10 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. at St. Johns Parish Church on Johns Island. Volunteering with RCC doesn't require medical expertise, a background working with seniors or any special skills really - just patience, a warm smile and a willingness to try and bring joy to others! Volunteer responsibilities can vary based on the site and your interests interests and can range from helping prepare meals to coordinating activities, assisting with arts and crafts, playing games or simply talking with our program participants. The ideal volunteer is able / willing to work out a fairly consistent schedule of volunteering for at least one hour, at least once a month. Staff members are on site throughout the programs, so you'll never have to worry about getting thrown in on your own.

For more information, or to sign up for a trial visit, please contact Christina Vinciguerra at Christina@RespiteCareCharleston.org or 843-813-3051.
